Not bigly bigly - but not littly either

Still in one piece

I did that for the first time maybe 6 or 8 years ago. I was a little under-equipped, with only a 14 inch bar on my saw and the tree was a good ten inch bole. Plus it was an old ass dead mulberry, but not rotten, harder than oak or hickory by far. Dulled 2 chains getting that bitch down. Used a ladder to drop 3 or 4 of the lower branches, remembered how to do the Humboldt Notch, dropped that bitch right where it was spozed to go. Paid some other dudes to cut it up and haul it.

We helped our dad do that when we were kids. It’s sort of fun isn’t it?

Loud though.

It is sort of dangerous - it can be rotten inside and flip on ya - or split and twist

watch youtube vids of tree cutting mistakes - the things that happen even to those in the business are unreal

A guy who cut down a big tree for me (way outa my league) told me a guy who wrote books on tree cutting and safety got killed by a tree

We never worked on real big trees. But you’re right, an accident can be one simple mistake away.
